A special ceremony for SPC Ross McGinnis was held in Harrisburg on November 9, 2009. SPC McGinnis' army decorations include the following: Medal of Honor, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Infantryman Badge. The ceremony marked the unveiling of a memorial stone placed in Soldier and Sailors Grove in his honor. State Representative Donna Oberlander was the Master of Ceremony for the event. In attendence were his parents, members of the Armed Forces, Mary Jo White and other members of the State House of Represenatives and Senate, among other special guests. Background Information
Since 1989, the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) has sponsored a semester-long internship program for outstanding students, in all academic majors, from its 14 universities. The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS) places these selected students in working relationships with policymakers in the executive and legislative branches of Pennsylvania government, as well as with independent boards, agencies, and commissions.
